Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow gradual self tanner/moisturizer. Around $8 - 7 at drugstores.

So I was browsing the beauty section in Target and came across Jergens new Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer. I’ve tried their Natural Glow gradual self tanner before and really loved it so I figured what the heck I’ll try this one. Get more tan while I moisturize my skin? Sign me up. I bought the shade for Medium to Tan skin tones, there is also one for Fair to Medium skin tones. They also make a version for your face.

Both of their Natural Glow gradual self tanners apply like a moisturizer, they come out white like any other body lotion which I love because it’s mess free. I apply a thin layer over the areas I want to be more tan and go to sleep and it never transfers onto my blankets or clothes. Also make sure to WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER. I didn’t and after 3 days I was left with super tan hands/palms! I should have read the back of the bottle… lol. But after I started washing my hands after I never had dark palms again! I’d recommend applying it before bed so while you sleep the lotion will do it’s magic because during the day sweat, water, etc could remove some of the lotion.

After day 1 you will see a slight tan but after day 3 you will look significantly darker. After I reached the tan I wanted I started using every other day or ever 2 days to up keep the tan. I went from medium/fair to tan in 3 days. The tan isnt orange looking at all for my medium skin tone. If you are very fair or pale I wouldnt recommend going with the one for medium to tan skin it may be too dark for you, go for the one for fair to medium skin tones!

Overall, I really love this! Mess free, no odor or smell, moisturizes & works fast! Just make sure to wash your hands after you apply, apply a thin layer evenly over the skin, and apply sparingly over elbows and knees (says so on back of bottle). I also highly recommend their other Natural Glow moisturizer, but it will work a tad slower :)

Review on Anastsia Beverly Hill’s Bold & Beautiful Kit.

This kit retails for $36 at Ulta, Nordstrom as well as http://www.anastasia.net/ and will be available for purchase on Sephora.com by the end of Feburary.

This is a GREAT little kit for traveling, it has your brow and eyeshadow needs in one. It comes with 2 volumes, Volume 1 Bold Brows and Volume 2 Beautiful Eyes.

Volume 1 Bold Brows (my favorite volume in the set) comes with a brow wax, brow powder, duo ended brush with angled brush and spoolie, and mini tweezers. The brow powder is a medium taupe shade, great for blondes, brunettes and black hair, it’s a great universal brow powder shade. I don’t think it would be ideal for those with red hair because it’s a little too cool toned/ash. The brow wax is a dark brown and could be used alone to tint the brows and keep the hair in place and still look very natural.

Volume 2 Beautiful Eyes comes with 4 shadows, a matte cream, shimmer peachy pink, medium taupe brown with sparkle and a very deep shimmery purple. It also comes with a duo ended brush with a flat shader brush and pencil brush. The eyeshadows are creamy and pigmented, not too powdery and a lot of fall out.

Overall i reeeally love this kit especially for the compact palettes. As a college student living in dorms I don’t want to store a lot of makeup since i’m already limited on space and I love that I can use this every day and have all my brow and eyeshadow needs in one small space :)

Review on Wet n Wild MegaLiner $3 at Walgreens, CVS, Riteaid & other stores that carry Wet n Wild.

Hi guys, so this is one of my FAVORITE liquid liners. The main reasons is because it’s matte, and most liquid liners are have a glossy finish.

The Tip: This is a brush tip liquid liner not a felt tip or pen tip. The brush can be difficult to work with because it’s a very fine brush tip. Felt/pen tips are easier to control (think Loreal Liner Intense or Maybelline Line Stiletto) for beginners. I wouldnt recommend this for people just starting to use liquid liner because it may be harder to make a straight line. The very fine tips allows you to create SUCH a thin line and makes it so easy to create a sharp wing. It took me a few days to get the hang of using the brush but now I can create the wing in seconds!

The Formula: The finish is matte and the formula is slightly thicker than most liquid liners. I always wipe off the excess liner off the tip on the inside of the bottle because there is too much liquid liner on the brush at first and it can get messy creating the line.

The Lasting Power: This liner lasts on me all day without smudging! However if I take a nap (which I have been doing a lot lately) it will transfer on your eye lids and such, but for every day wear it doesnt transfer or smudge.

Overall if you want a really precise, matte winged eyeliner this is GREAT. Plus it’s super cheap at $3 it’s a steal! They also make other colors as well like brown, blue, teal, etc great for summer and spring coming up :)

Revlon Nearly Naked 7 - 10$ depending on where you get it (Target & Walmart have cheapest prices)

Texture: Very creamy and easy to blend. However it dries pretty fast when you try to build up any coverage it starts to get a little flakey and not flattering, so you cant really build up to medium/full coverage. Feels very light weight on the face, not heavy at all.

Coverage: The coverage is light/medium. I have acne scars and some acne and it took a few layers to cover most of it, it still didnt cover all my problems but I didnt really expect it to. Being sold as a “naked” natural looking foundation usually doesnt mean super full coverage. The main problem I had with it was it dried too fast to layer & build up more coverage. If you apply it and blend it out quickly it will look very nice and natural. However if you try to build up the coverage it will dry too fast and get flakey and patchy.

Finish: When you first apply the finish is dewy and then dries to a satin finish with a sheen, it’s not super matte.

Lasting Power: Longer than i thought! I have combination/oily skin & it lasted about 8 hours before I started looking oily or had to blot. I only used a moisturizer underneath no primer or setting spray. If you have normal to dry skin you wouldnt need to set it with powder. With a primer or setting spray it would last even longer!

Overall thoughts: It’s not my perfect foundation because I like more coverage, but I do think it can be a great foundation for some people! It would be a good every day foundation for those who want light coverage. It feels super light weight on the skin & does look natural. If you try to build up the coverage it begins to look patchy/flakey :)

Review! On Anastasia Beverly Hills Hypercolor Brow & Hair Powder. 12.50$ each. In stores at Ulta December 26th, 2012.

The Hypercolor Brow & Hair Powders are very pigmented powders that you apply on your hair or brows for either streaks, colored ombre, colored brows, etc that wash out when you shower/shampoo your hair. I personally love the colored/dip dye ombre look so thats what i went for :)

First Picture: Top Row: In The Pink, Teal Tornado, Electric Blue. Bottom Row: Ultra Violet, Megawatt Green.

Bottom Left Picture (my hair) colors used: Electric Blue (top) & Teal Tornado (bottom). Bottom Right Picture color used: In The Pink.

How To Use For Hair:

  1. Style your hair first, i think it works better than using the Hypercolor powder then styling. So first curl, straighten, etc then apply a little styling cream, leave in conditioner, hair serum, etc on the section of hair you want to color.
  2. You should use gloves & a towel under your hair because there is product fall out that will get on your fingers/arms while applying. If you dont use gloves (i didnt) then you just have to wash your hands after, the powder comes off fine!
  3. Rub the section of hair in the powder & the powder will glide on. I used my fingers to blend the powder to create an ombre effect so it goes from a faded color to a more intense/vibrant color.
  4. Spray hair spray on the areas that you colored to set the powder so it lasts all day! But spray from afar because if you spray too close it will fade the vibrant color. I definitely recommend hair spray because it stops color from transferring onto your clothes.
  5. Take a shower at the end of the day to wash the color out! I would not recommend sleeping with it because it will get on your pillow/sheets.
If you want to use it with your brows, just use an angled brush and apply like you would fill in your eyebrows :)
Disclaimer: I was sent these products for consideration by Anastasia Beverly Hills.

My new clear storage unit! I got it at http://www.muji.us/store/storage/acrylic-cases.html for 27$

They do have other styles/sizes, the one i have is the 5 drawer. But i think eventually i will get the 2 drawer with larger drawers when i accumulate more makeup. The 5 drawers are pretty thin, but fits all my compacts/blushes/lipsticks, etc easily. The only thing it did not fit was my MAC Paint Pot, so if you have thicker/bulky products go for the 2 drawer. Shipping was really fast took about 4 days! Overall i’m very happy with it! It fits more than you’d expect! I do have another spinning makeup organizer i use for my every day makeup so this doesnt fit ALL my makeup but then again i do have more makeup than most people so one may be fine for most :))

* i got the lipstick holder on top at Amazon & the makeup brush holder as eyeslipsface.com :)

Review on Urban Decay’s Naked foundation 38$ at Sephora, Ulta, Nordstom & Macy’s.

My skin type is combination oily and i want enough coverage in foundations to cover up my acne/acne scars. My main concern with this foundation was that it wouldn’t be enough coverage for me & that it would not last on the oily parts of my skin.

The coverage: the coverage surprised me! It’s a medium coverage foundation with build able coverage. You can get fuller coverage to cover acne scars and such. The thing i really like about the coverage is you can keep adding & it will still look natural!

The finish: The finish is very flawless and natural. It has a sheen & isn’t completely matte however if you were to set it with a matte powder you could achieve the matte look! It feels super light weight on the skin and does not look cakey at all. It also doesn’t oxidize/turn darker on my skin through out the day.

The texture: The texture is very blend able and pretty liquidy, in my experience the more liquidy a foundation is the lighter it feels on your face and the more natural it looks (in my opinion).

The lasting power: Is pretty good! Without a primer/oil control products it lasts me about 5 hours so if you have dry/normal skin it should last you all day. When i use my regular primer, powder, setting spray, etc it will last on my combination skin for around 8 hours. It’s not the longest lasting foundation ever but i still really like it in conjunction with my other products :)

So overall i really like this foundation and recommend it for those with dry, normal and combination! If you have really oily skin and don’t mind touching up through out the day then i’d also recommend this for a very natural looking, light weight foundation with pretty good coverage :)

Review!

So i’ve been using the Beauty Blender for about 2 weeks every day and i LOVE them. I love them even more than brushes which i was not expecting. I’ve tried the cheaper version at Ulta which i didnt really like & i prefer the original Beauty Blender a lot more because it’s more bouncy/spongey. They are also more spongey and bouncy than the triangle cosmetic sponges which are not meant to be reused. But one cheaper version at CVS looks very similar and bouncy :)

What is a Beauty Blender?

A fancy makeup sponge basically! lol I use it with foundation and concealer under my eyes to blend. It’s 1 for 20$ or 2 for 25$ at Sephora.com or Beauty.com (beauty.com was free shipping so i bought it from there). I have a few pimples and acne scars so thats what i need to cover. It does sheer out the coverage a bit because it’s wet but i can still build up to full coverage :)

How i use:

I run one under luke warm water (not hot/not cold) till it gets darker pink then squeeze out the water until the Beauty Blender isnt dripping. I try to squeeze out as much water as possible! It will double in size when it’s wet. I prefer using it wet because it soaks up less of your foundation and helps blend better. Then i apply dots of foundations evenly all over my face then go in with the beauty blender and press lightly to blend. The finish is FLAWLESS which is why i love it so much. It blends like a dream and very fast i can apply my foundation a lot faster than with a regular brush. There is no streaks at all. And it makes my foundation feel lighter on my face which is weird lol. The finish is a little dewy because it is wet but i really like that, it looks very natural and healthy and airbrushed! You can always apply powder on top, i do :)

How i wash:

They have a beauty blender cleanser you can buy but i just use my Johnson’s Baby Shampoo (the yellow bottle). I get the beauty blender wet and squeeze out some water and roll the beauty blender in the soap. You want a layer of soap all over the sponge. Then i keep squeezing the sponge so the soap gets deep into the sponge, while you squeeze youll notice it’s getting more foamy and foam is foundation colored. Then i rinse and squeeze until the water isnt soapy/bubbly anymore and it’s all clean :) I wash after every use! These should last 3 months each if you take good care of them. I got two so i could use them for 6 months! I also got two because it’s 2 for 25$ or 1 for 20$ so it’s a better deal :)

Cons:

  • It does sheer out the coverage a little over raised pimples, so if you have a lot of raised acne it may not cover all your want it to cover. I have a few pimples at a time and it works well but with more severe acne i can’t say if it will give you super full coverage!
  • You have to wash after every use, i usually wash my other brushes once a week
  • They only last 3 months

Pros:

  • Blends very easy and flawlessly & blends quickly
  • Makes your foundation look natural & feel light
  • Your foundation never look cakey
  • Great if you have dry skin because it doesn’t accentuate dry patches/flakes

My favorite white eyeliners!

MAC Fascinating Eye Kohl & NYX’s White pencil liner. Fascinating is more pigmented and lasts a little longer, however sometimes i like a more “soft” and natural white eyeliner like NYX’s. I havent tried Rimmel’s white eyeliner, but i heard that one is great as well!

White eyeliner applied on the lower water line makes your eyes look bigger & brighter! I like to use it every day, especially in the morning to help me look more awake.

Still on the hunt for a good nude eyeliner :)

I just wanted to mention the performance of this bad boy! It retails for 1$ at Target or eyeslipsface.com. I wore this under my eyes today in 90 degree weather, sweating, sun in my face for hooours and i was really impressed that this concealer did not crease or fade away under my eyes. I did set it with a little powder however but i do that with all my concealers! The texture is very creamy and easy to blend. The coverage is alright, it will not be the best blemish concealer but it’s greeeat for under the eyes because it’s very brightening! I put quite a lot on for a really bright under eye effect. If you want a liquid concealer with more coverage for blemishes, i’d recommend Maybelline Super Stay Concealer or Revlon Photoready Stick Concealer :)

If youre using this for an under eye concealer, it is DEFINITELY worth 1$!

Review!

So i recently tried out Kat Von D’s new Lock It Tattoo foundation which is supposed to have really high coverage and last all day. And in my opinion, both claims are true. I have combination skin oily on my t zone, dry in other areas sometimes i’m just oily and this foundation lasted a good 6 hours on me without powder, primer, or a setting spray or anything. It lasted even longer with my usual primer, powder & setting spray. It retails at Sephora for 34$.

It has a satin finish, not matte but not dewy.

The consistency is thick sort of like an airy cream, not liquidy/runny at all & it may look like it will “cake up” or feel too thick. But since it has such GREAT coverage you really only need one drop for half your face so it doesnt feel heavy at all. A little goes a long way! It’s very creamy and easy to blend.

I can’t say if it will cover tattoos because i have no tattoos however a follower of mine told me it didnt cover their tattoos. However using Kat Von D’s tattoo concealer/pencil/foundation all together may do the job!

In conclusion this foundation would be ideal for people with oily/normal skin who want great, full coverage without feeling heavy! If you have dry patches i wouldnt recommend this because it accentuated any dry patches i had due to the consistency.

Hey guys i have a product i’d like to share with you! :)

I’ve been using Olay Microdermabrasion & Peel Kit (22$ - 30$ depending where you buy it) for a few months now and i LOVE it! I’ve used the higher end version by Philosophy (Microdelivery Peel 68$) which is pretty much identical, first you use the face scrub and and gently massage then apply a liquid over the scrub that tingles and acts as a peel and the Olay one is just as good & cheaper which is always a plus :) I’ve also gotten professional microdermabrasion & this is a great cheaper, at home alternative!

This is definitely more intense than an average exfoliating scrub & is NOT meant to be used a couple times a week more like once or twice a month. Exfoliating your skin helps fade acne scars, dark spots, removes dead skin, helps your skin appear more even overall, reduce the appearance of pores & makes your skin baby soft. I’ve really noticed my acne scars fading & i only get one break out about once a week, when i used to have at least a few on my face every day.

The first time i used this i did get a few surface break outs, but that happens to my skin once i deep exfoliate when i havent in a few months (i ran out of my philosophy one & didnt want to spend 70$ on a new one, so i’m glad i found this!). When you exfoliate for the first time in a while, you remove layers of skin so any breakouts that were still deeper in the skin & about to appear will pop up. But when i used it again & again that problem did not occur again :)

So if you seem interested in this product i really recommend it! This should definitely last you a few months so 22$ seems very worth it to me. If you have sensitive skin i wouldn’t use it as often as i do :)

My favorite high end pink blushes! From left to right, The Balm Down Boy (21$ matte dusty light pink), Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Dollface (25$ matte, light pink), Illmasqua Katie (24$ pale matte pink), MAC Pink Swoon (20$ sheer barbie pink), Nars Deep Throat (27$ warm medium pink with gold shimmer)

All these blushes are very wearable for every day and suitable for most skin tones! The only blush i would not recommend for tan to deeper skin tones is Illamasqua’s Katie because it’s the lightest, palest pink blush i’ve ever seen and can look chalky on medium to deeper skin tones. I’m an NC 30 and i think any skin tone past NC 35 wouldnt really like it! MAC’s Pink Swoon looks a little intimidating in the pan because it’s a barbie pink however it’s a sheertone so it applies sheer and gives a great girly flush & pop without looking like too much :)

Review! as pictured* Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Bellini, Loreal Caresse Lipstick in Cotton Pink & Pink Plush

So at Ulta i picked up 3 things, 2 or Loreal’s new Caresse Color Riche Lipsticks & 1 Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Bellini.

Note: These are different than Loreal’s Color Riche Le Balm (same concept, but more pigmented)

The Loreal Caresse Lipsticks are very new, and i know might be compared to Revlon Lip Butters which are very similar both creamy and glossy & feels like a balm. In my opinion i like the lighter colors of the Loreal Caresse line better than the lighter colors in the Revlon Lip Butter Line because they are less frosty much more of a “cream” finish with no shimmer & don’t settle into my lip lines like the lighter colors of Revlon Lip Butters do. The medium pink lipstick is Cotton Pink & the lighter pink is Pink Plush, i LOVE them both. The finish is glossier than a cream but not quite a gloss, very very creamy and the packaging looks expensive and gorgeous!

The Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Bellini is a nudey pink with minimal shimmer, the shimmer barely shows on the lips. Very creamy, not sticky but enough stick to last on your lips for a while.

Very impressed by both :) Check em out!
