I realize that sometimes my skin isn't a clean as it should. When I apply bb cream I can see that the dirt flakes and it is absolutely disgusting! Do you know of a good facial cleanser that is really going to get rid of the dirt?

My all time favorite cleanser is the Philosophy Purity Cleanser. It melts away makeup and dirt and is very gentle on the skin. The Simple Moisturizing Face Wash is really similar :)

Any foaming is really good at cleaning the skin too! The only downside is that it’s drying on the skin so I only really recommend foam cleansers to those with oily skin.

Theres a few things you can do to make sure your skin is super clean!

  • Take off your makeup first then wash your face. You can do this by cleansing your face once to remove makeup and again to clean the skin. Or you can take off your makeup with makeup removing wipes then wash your face. Often we wash our face once poorly and it doesnt remove allll the makeup and dirt. Don’t just wash your face for 10 seconds, take your time and really work the cleanser into your skin.
  • Use a face brush like the Clarisonic. Basically a toothbrush for the face LOL. There are many cheaper alternatives out now at the drugstores. I wash my face with my clarisonic and cleanser once a day and my skin gets squeaky clean! It also exfoliates so your skin tone is more even in color and more smooth.
  • Use a toner after washing your face. A toner is just an extra step that removes anything your cleanser may have missed. Some toners are targeted more for acne, some are more moisturizing for dry skin, etc. So you want a toner thats right for your skin needs. You apply toner on a cotton ball/pad and you will usually see left over dirt and makeup on the cotton pad, it’s gross but very satisfying! lol
  • Exfoliating once a week. This will help make sure your pores arent clogged and that your skin texture is smooth. You’re literally scrubbing away dirt deep in the pores. This is very important for clear, clean skin

I love bronzer, but being dark skinned it's hard for me to find a shade that will actually show on my skin. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you!

Totally :)

If you want to contour I’d recommend using a face powder thats a few shades darker. They are already matte and it’s much easier to find a shade that’s dark enough.  You can even use a dark brown eyeshadow!

As for actual bronzers try shades like

The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer

Covergirl Queen Bronzers, they have a few shades. The Queen line by Covergirl is specifically for people with deeper skin tones :)

Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer in Ebony shade #08

Would you guys be interested in me doing current favorites? Not exactly monthly favorites but just some of my fav products at the time every now & then?

Let me know, thanks guys! :)

Hey hun What is a makeup that you would recommend that isn't too harsh for everyday wear? I'm kind of required to wear makeup to work, a natural look but nonetheless I need at least powder. I usually wear Mac makeup but I know that long term that could affect my skin. Thanks love! :)

Try a BB or CC Cream! They are very light weight and a lot of the higher end ones have skin care benefits like color correcting spots, anti aging, etc. The drugstore ones don’t have as much skin benefits but they are still really light weight, won’t clog pores and natural looking! If you have oily skin i’d still recommend setting with powder or using a primer underneath :)

Some i’d recommend are

Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream (got mine at Sephora) has a medium coverage (will still cover scars and such) and lasts longer than other bb/cc creams.

Garnier BB Cream for oily/combination skin. This one is a more long lasting version of the original version for normal/dry skin which is best for a long work day. Still moisturizing not drying although it’s more aimed for oily skin. Has GREAT coverage!

After BB Cream and powder, just apply some mascara and a tinted lip balm, lip stain, etc anything to add a little color to your lips and you’ll look put together but not too done up!

Some extra steps could be a light shimmery color all over the lid, a little blush or bronzer & brown eyeliner. These extra steps will just add a little glam but won’t look too harsh. Brown liner and mascara is a lot more toned down option than using black :)

What are some good natural pink lipsticks?
