It’s a little tricky to find a full coverage foundation that will look and feel super lightweight but you can use tricks and tips to make any foundation look less cakey!
Check out my post on how to avoid looking cakey here. This post will teach you how to take care of your skin and different products that will help your foundation look more natural.
Another post you might find helpful is how to get flawless coverage but still looking natural which you can view here. This post is more about how to use a light coverage foundation and concealer to get full coverage without using a full coverage foundation all over your face.
As for foundations i’d recommend that will still give a good medium coverage and still feel light weight id recommend
- Covergirl 3 in 1 Outlast foundation
- Urban Decay Naked Foundation
- Garnier BB Cream in the Oily Skin Formula
- Loreal True Match
- Estee Lauder Double Wear
- Lancome Tient Miracle
For touch ups through out the day I highly recommend translucent powders or sheer pressed powders! If you reapply makeup and touch up multiple times through out the day youre adding on more and more makeup which can easily look cakey and feel heavy.
Translucent powders are colorless powders that will take away any shine but still look super natural and light. Translucent powders usually work better at controlling oils and shine than regular face powders! I always apply a layer of translucent powder after all my makeup even if I use a regular pressed powder just to make sure my makeup lasts longer. A lot of translucent powders are loose powders which can be messy for on the go so I do have one pressed one I take with me! Some great translucent pressed powders
- MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
- Neutrogena Shine Control Powder
- Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in the shade Transparent (they also make colored shades)
- Urban Decay DeSlick Mattifying Translucent Powder
- Too Faced Primed & Poreless Translucent Powder
If you have a lot to cover sometimes your makeup can wear off through out the day so extra coverage is sometimes needed! In these cases you can go for a blot or light coverage pressed powder. Something that will look natural but still give a little extra coverage! Try powders like
- Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
- Maybelline Fit Me Powder
- MAC Blot Powder
- Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder

Sedona Lace Large Angeled Contour Brush $13. I personally love angled blush brushes because they can be used for blush, bronzer or contouring so you can get many uses out of it! Their small contour brush is also great for a more intense contour!
Real Technique’s Contour Brush that comes in the Core Collection Kit for $17. Their blush brush can work for contouring too but it’s a little too big to be perfect for contouring. Their expert face brush could work too! Sold at Ulta and some Walgreens, Targets and Walmarts.
ELF’s Studio Blush Brush, Mineral Powder Brush, Small Tapered and Blush Brush would all work well! $3 each at Target or online
Sonia Kashuk Core Tools Angeled Blush Brush $10 sold at Target
Coastal Scents Classic Buffer Brush $5
